Most aftermarket cards work fine. Just pick the one that fits your system best or is the most affordable.
You're all set, I'm running GTA 5 on my overclocked MSI 970 with top settings except grass at high and advanced options turned off. It doesn't really help much, but you won't hit a steady frame rate even with 980Ti. I also have two MFAA enabled and rarely drop below 60 frames. I believe the 970 offers great value for the price, and playing with 3 on ultra and hairworks off gives excellent performance and looks. The 980Ti might be too much for 1080p, but if you can afford it, it's worth it.
I have comparable settings and can play at 60 FPS with everything set to ultra in the graphical options. I haven’t adjusted anything in the advanced graphics section. I rarely drop, and it stays between 58-59 FPS when using VSync, while around 70-75 FPS during city walking without VSync.
Well, unless you're particularly fond of grass, the 970 works well.
