Yes, it supports multicore processing. With two cores, additional PCIe lanes, and the option to overclock, there’s no reason not to use it.

I've been using the 5960x since it arrived, managed a solid overclock to 4.5Ghz across all cores. Honestly, I don’t feel the need to upgrade just yet. Just keep in mind you’ll likely need a high-end motherboard (2011-v3) and ideally quad-channel RAM—plus a good cooler for the overclock. It probably won’t be an inexpensive upgrade. If you run into trouble finding a compatible motherboard, I have a spare Rampage V board that’s free (though I don’t back it up). Also, consider the risks of using an end-of-life socket or CPU. On the plus side, my gaming performance is mostly GPU-bound, mainly with 1080Tis in the titles.
