It's interesting you brought this up. I own an old gigabyte x570 board from a budget AMD setup when the 5000 series launched. I think I can replace this with the ASUS model while handling the RMA process. I'm curious about Asus's advice for fixing a motherboard beyond just resetting CMOS and rewriting BIOS. Disassembling is really tough with a custom loop... I just received a Fractal North case today for another project, but it might be a good moment to move from a custom loop to a closed loop for easier upkeep. Also, I've never tried overclocking as much as I expected when I first started using a custom loop. This machine is far too powerful for its intended purpose.

I've worked with custom loops for a while now (though I usually stick to them only when they're meant for heavily overclocked CPUs and GPUs), and it's actually manageable if you plan it well and use soft tubing. I've swapped out the motherboard without losing performance, though it's definitely more time-consuming than using an all-in-one setup.

I completed all the challenging tubing work. The result looks amazing, and building it was enjoyable, though I haven’t had much time for overclocking lately due to other commitments and life. The drain valve is currently at a lower level in the loop, which is good.

Hey, good luck! Tough gaming can be a real challenge. The Ryzen 5000 doesn’t really benefit much from overclocking—overclocking all cores might boost performance by a few hundred MHz, but single-core gains drop significantly, especially in games. It’s mostly pointless just to enable PBO for daily tasks. For testing, it can still be useful since every little improvement counts, but it won’t make a big difference in real life. If you’re looking to overclock, older models like X58 are cheaper and more rewarding to push. Don’t worry about missing out; it’s not as important now.
