Hello everyone, I recently purchased 3600MHz RAM at a great price. So far, I've only managed to boot the PC once at that speed. When I change it to 3200MHz, it runs smoothly. Do you know what adjustments need to be made to maintain 3600MHz? Speed wasn't a priority before, but now I'm willing to tweak settings if it helps.

3600MHz quad sticks with four ranks seem demanding for the memory controller. It looks like the controller might struggle under that load. Removing two sticks should work smoothly at those speeds, but using four pushes the system beyond its capacity on this hardware.

Can I adjust the speed to 3600MT/s in the BIOS? There might be a possibility, as mentioned by @RONOTHAN, that the RAM isn't fully quality verified for that board—this could occur.

2x functions smoothly at 3600MHz. It seems I might need some adjustments to the CPU and other configurations. Yes, I can do that—it's how it started. I accidentally powered off the PC while reattaching the side panel, and when I tried to boot, I encountered a "60" error with no post. QVL? I discovered two forum links about this topic and gained a brief understanding. I'll look into it more thoroughly tomorrow to see if it affects me or not.

The IMC in AMD CPUs has difficulty managing the number of memory ranks they oversee. Single rank is the simplest, dual rank adds some complexity, dual single rank stays relatively stable, but dual dual rank presents significant challenges. To try booting at 3600MHz, you might need to adjust BIOS settings, increase voltage, and tweak timing—this is your main path if you're serious about reaching that speed. It's also worth noting that ASUS's memory layout isn't ideal for four sticks, which could make things a bit trickier on other boards. If you're not planning to use 128GB of RAM, consider keeping two sticks and opting for 64GB instead. This approach tends to perform better, runs more reliably, and requires less effort overall.

The RAM is from a specific brand and model, designed for a quad kit or two dual kits setup. It uses a particular motherboard.

To run at 3600 MHz, you’ll need higher VDIMM voltage (1.46V), vSOC (1.1V), and relaxed one of the main timings. The DOCP setting at 1.35V didn’t work for booting at that speed.

I would question if the RAM you got an amazing "deal" on is really what it claims to be. Otherwise 3200MHz isn't slow memory and taking a very minor speed hit rather than cutting half of your capacity seems to be the better idea and certainly is more futureproof as applications are more likely to benefit from having enough memory to draw from instead of just the fastest.
