Because it's air cooled, R23 works best in winter, typically around 4650-4750 R23. For lighter applications, it can be increased.

I've noticed scores around 4.8 and 4.9 on my machine, yet I recently discovered some RAM stability problems. It seems the RAM might be enabling cores to run faster but causing instability. Cooling plays a big role here. For now, I'm holding off until better components arrive. Updated August 8, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more details

I believe the issue originated from a CB R23 load. The machine is currently offline. A faulty RAM caused me to initiate an RMA before the problem fully emerged. Now I realize the RAM wasn't properly aligned with the board, so it needs replacement with a different, fully compatible kit. I'm uncertain if using another RAM would restore performance. I thought the RAM might have helped boost performance, but it ultimately led to instability. I have some screenshots of the M.2 slot in that unit, though I hope they haven't been lost. Regardless, it doesn't matter if compatibility issues affected speed—if the core function was unstable, it wouldn't have worked. If board, CPU, RAM, and storage compatibility were such a complex puzzle today, I would have rethought starting this build.

I compared Asus and G.Skill while assembling my setup on Newegg in 2020. I even looked into my NVMe drives, but I didn’t encounter any issues. Most folks said QVL is fine and it should work. Overall, my rig has been smooth and reliable.

Checked performance at 5900x: average 4.5 GHz on R23, peak reaches 5 GHz on Cinebench R23 with PBO and negative curve.

Ugh, I’m limited to just two cores that can push past 5GHz, barely reaching 5,045

AGESA 1206 and 1207 significantly impact PBO performance. Reducing the max vcore from 1.5v to 1.425v mainly benefits those struggling with CPU cooling. My 5600X performs similarly, capping around 1.375v or less. Going back to 1203 brings things back to normal.
