I just installed a new Kraken 61 cooler on my 5820K, but the issue is with the temperature—it’s running between 36 and 40 Celsius when idle. The old cooler wasn’t great and also got hot, so I thought maybe it was a bad unit or just placed poorly. I let it run because it stayed within normal limits. Now, after overclocking the CPU to 4.5GHZ, idle temps are still between 36 and 40 Celsius whether stocked or overclocked. When I stress the CPU with AIDA64 for testing overclock, it heats up to the low 70s and stays cool under load, reaching high 50s to low 60s during intense gaming. It works fine at these speeds but worries me about the high idle temps—could be a sign something’s off. I’m seeking advice from the community on this matter.

The idle temperatures appear elevated, which aligns with my expectation of low 30s at best, particularly given the 280mm AIO. Are you from a hot climate? Does your case provide adequate intake cooling? And if not, I’d recommend reinstalling the Karken 61 to verify proper installation and thermal paste condition. A small pea-sized drop in the center or spreading it thinly across the die would help.
