I'm setting up a new PC and have already ordered the 6950XT and NZXT H7 Flow case. I'm choosing between the 5800X3D and the i5-13600KF. The 5800X3D costs €400, while the i5-13600KF is €300. The cooler I have is 4/5 years old and may not perform well with the 5800X3D. The total comes to around €560 for the i5-13600KF and €189 for the motherboard, bringing the overall cost to about €668. I also have 32GB of Corsair RAM, but it's running at 2933Mhz instead of the intended 3000Mhz, causing crashes. I'm unsure if upgrading to faster RAM would make a noticeable difference, especially since the 13600K has its own cache. Most users say it performs better than the 5800X3D, but I'm not sure if that holds true with DDR4. My focus is gaming at 1440p and 144hz, mainly for titles like WoW and Valorant. I plan to keep this system running smoothly without upgrades for the next 4 to 5 years. Which option do you recommend, and should I replace my current RAM?

Really, for a fresh build I wouldn't choose the 5800x3d. Even though it's a solid chip, the AM4 platform is coming to an end, meaning you'd likely need to purchase a new motherboard later if you want to upgrade. Though we all dislike the "future-proof" idea, picking the 13600kf would actually achieve that since the 5800x3d was essentially the final AM4 CPU to be released.

However, based on what we understand, an Intel Z690 isn't expected to be more future-proof than a B550. Ultimately, they should perform similarly, and I’d choose the more affordable one.

I’d choose Intel. Yet if you’re focused on gaming, AMD makes sense. X3D performs poorly across the board except for games.

Isn't 13600K also on a similarly outdated platform? I don't really mind much about that. I'm not really concerned if it's a dead platform either. I don't plan to upgrade in the next 4 or 5 years, so even AM5 might be outdated then.

OP plans to rely on this build for the next four to five years, maximizing what each platform provides—either a 5800X3D or a 13600KF. The 13th generation is limited to 600/700 series chipsets from Intel, so a new socket will be needed for the next generation. Choose the 13600KF and opt for a budget DDR4 3600MHz kit, then consider it complete.

The item is unavailable. Corsair mentioned on their forums that the H115i-PRO-RGB cooler isn't compatible with LGA 1700: https://forum.corsair.com/forums/topic/1...-lga-1700/

Oh, that's disappointing... I have another thought for the 5800X3D if you're looking to protect your budget... if you're comfortable spending a bit more and aren't sure about your old cooler, go for the 13600KF. But honestly, I don't think you'll really notice the performance gap. On another thing, why are you considering the NZXT X73 Kraken? It's pretty pricey.
