Hello everyone, five days back I upgraded my CPU from 5600x to 5800x. I'm running a Noctua NHD15s cooler with a second Noctua 120mm intake fan. The case is Cooler Master MB510L featuring 03 LianLi Uni SL 120 intake fans, one rear exhaust and one top rear exhaust fan. The motherboard is an Asus X570-P Prime. I only modified the processor; everything else stayed the same. The problem I'm encountering is extremely high temperatures. Idle temps sit between 40 and 44 degrees, but during a typical multiplayer battle royale game like 2042, they would remain around 82 degrees constantly. When using xplane 12, I notice spikes reaching 88 to 89 degrees after loading, then it drops to mid-69 to 70 degrees. I shared this issue in another forum and was advised to adjust the offset core voltage to -0.1v, which I did. Now the temps have fallen to 74 to 75 degrees during battle royale and the spikes in xplane 12 load drop to 80 to 81 degrees. That's significant. I'm curious if there are other ways to fix this. Someone also suggested enabling PBO and tweaking the Curve optimizer settings. Although I'm not very familiar with those options, I'll give it a shot. With the stock VCore voltage, I changed the curve optimizer to negative 30 on all cores, and the PC restarted right away when the game began, so I went back to the original setting. I'd appreciate more guidance on adjusting these parameters and finding optimal PBO values.

It's not too large. The stock caps are minimal. I don't understand his current level, but my 58X3D is running at 30c while I'm writing this. Plus, I only have one fan on my cooler.

The atmosphere is warm. Temperature hovers between 32 and 33 degrees.

It's typical for these CPUs to heat up, especially with high ambient temperatures. The PC restarted after adjusting the Curve Optimizer to a negative 30 offset because it combined with the prior -0.1V setting. Curve Optimizer changes how the voltage/frequency boost works, allowing higher clock speeds at lower voltages. You usually choose either CO or a negative offset; doing both is uncommon. If you experience heat and the -0.1V offset still doesn’t help, consider removing it and using Curve Optimizer. Note that a -30 offset in CO might not suit every CPU, but -20 should work well on most. It impacts stability similarly to manual voltage tweaks—always check for stability after daily use. Currently, I’m testing RAM with AVX load and -30 CO offset on my 5800X3D, achieving up to 80°C with a 360mm AIO, while the 5800X tends to overheat more than the 5800X. Ambient temperature is around 24°C.

It’s tricky, you shouldn’t mess around with CO until you grasp what you’re doing. PPT/TDC/EDC all matter.

You don't need to touch them. Also it may be worth to set your Load Line Calibration to Level 3 for better stability. Usually there is a lot of voltage undershoot on Level 1/Level 2 (default) which causes voltages to drop too much during load and causing crashing. On my board -30 offset is not stable on Level 2 but is stable on Level 3... at the cost of running 1-2C higher.

Tested 200/160/190 -25 across all cores, added +200MHz. Feedback: Adjusting the VF curve is more effective; ensure backup with PPT/TDC/EDC.
