The "sluggishness" you experience was probably some sort of driver issue or something else, not the fact you were using two different monitors (source: been running multiple, very different monitors for years, never experienced anything like that, from GPUs like 980s through cards like 3080s). Because of that, I don't see a reason to go for option 1. It's a slower CPU that costs the same amount as the 5800X, just so you get an iGPU that you won't even use. If you do care about the iGPU, you're better off going Intel or waiting for AM5 to release (that is rumored to have an iGPU). Personally I wouldn't be buying a CPU right now if you can avoid it since new CPUs are bound to launch within about a month, but seeing as you've already sold your current setup that might not be an option. If that's the case, I'd be looking 12600K or 12700F, but there are reasons to go 5700X.
In multi-monitor configurations, the multiple GPUs operate together rather than separately. The primary GPU handles rendering and sends frames to the secondary GPU for display, ensuring both VRAM are utilized efficiently. Synchronization remains consistent across cards. You typically rely on the main GPU, using the integrated one only when necessary for display output or specific tasks. The 5700X represents an advancement over the previous generation of graphics cards.
I bought it for the attractive offer and because they’d drop in value once AM5 comes. Since I have a RTX 3050 laptop, I’m holding off until then. I considered using the "iGPU Multi-Monitor" feature to combine screens, but I’m unsure if it actually works. source: [Motherboard]
