Hello! For your AMD 5600X, consider whether a 2x16GB dual-channel setup would work well at 1440p. Since your tests were at 1080p, you might need to adjust for higher resolution. Decide based on your budget and performance needs—dual channels can boost speed but may require more RAM per channel.

2x16GB using dual-rank cables matches 4x8GB with single-rank cables, though most modern 16GB sticks are single-rank now. Does the product mention dual-rank? The distinction matters only slightly—typically around 10% impact in CPU-heavy tasks, so GPU workloads don’t see it. You can achieve similar performance with quicker RAM or by adjusting your memory settings, again only when CPU becomes a bottleneck, which is rare unless you're using high-end GPUs like the 5600X with a 4080.

It could depend more on your motherboard than your CPU. For example, when researching the best RAM for my board (which also has a 5600X), I noticed many suggestions that a dual-rank 3600MHz kit would perform better than using all four slots with single-rank RAM. Perhaps the CPU has its own preferences. You might need to decide which option suits you best. From my experience, I started with two 8GB 3600MHz CL16 sticks and didn’t encounter any problems with games or multitasking. If you opt for a 2x16GB kit with solid CL, it should work well with the 5600X.

Great choice! The dual-rank configuration should offer better performance for your needs. Just make sure to set it up correctly.

Thanks for your feedback! Based on your suggestions and additional findings, I’m leaning toward choosing the 2x16GB RAM setup with dual-rank configuration.

When every stick has dual-rank capability, it means you effectively obtain four single-rank sticks. The phrase "dual-rank" might be unclear because it can actually describe a set containing two single-rank sticks, providing access to two ranks overall.

Toobers such as GN and HUB often employ 4x8 3200C14 during testing. If you observe differences in your results when using just two sticks, it might be due to this setup.
