5600x High temperature 5600x
I recently assembled a PC with a 5600X and initially faced crashes during intense Minecraft sessions due to overheating. After adjustments—using more thermal paste and ensuring proper placement on the stock coolers—I still experience high temperatures in games, often exceeding 85°C, sometimes reaching 90°C when shaders are active. I have three case fans and a cable layout that keeps them unobstructed. This situation seems persistent despite fixes, so it might not be ideal for a stock cooler setup.
I noticed I dropped a cable to stop the CPU fan, but it wasn’t usually facing the cooler.
Avoid combining thermal pastes. Take the cooler out, clean the CPU and heatsink, then apply fresh thermal paste. Make sure the cooler is firmly installed afterward. The 5600X includes a Wraith Stealth cooler, which isn't ideal. Wraith Prism works well for this model and is often available secondhand for 20-30 dollars or less. People who buy Prism usually upgrade to more powerful cooling solutions.
it’s not really a concern if everything functions properly. the front panel usually has three fans, and both the air intake and AMD chips can overheat just like people claim. however, better cooling solutions are available that aren’t included with the CPUs.
I had already organized the thermal solution earlier, but I’ll examine a prism cooler since the regular one is also quite noisy.
It might make sense to relocate one of the fans to the rear as an exhaust fan. It’s not actively cooling the area, but it could improve airflow and give a neat appearance.
