Your laptop's Ethernet connection is 100mbps? But it's running Windows 11? Are you certain the right drivers are installed? Few devices today support just 100mbps LAN, and I don't know of any laptops that fit. Your 94mbps also looks pretty close to what you'd expect if you're limited to 100mbps. Do you have another device on your network you could test transferring files via SMB? If yes, you can check whether you're only getting 100mbps between computers.

The drivers I have installed appear to be the newest versions. The laptop is a Dell Vostro 3405, and you can find out how the Ethernet port handles only 100Mbps while still supporting the 5GHz 802.11ac standard. I don’t have any other computers to test. Yes, I’m using Windows 11, which this laptop also supports, as indicated in its specifications.

It seems there might be a misunderstanding. The cost of port isn't the main issue, and checking the Wi-Fi protocol is important for compatibility.

I'm not confident about your request. Could you clarify what you need help with?

Your laptop's Ethernet speed is probably not the reason for slower Wi-Fi performance. The issue may lie with your device or the network setup. Check the specific notebook model and supported Wi-Fi standards. ~Note: As mentioned earlier, the DELL Vostro 3405 works best with Wi-Fi 4 or 5, 802.11n or 802.11ac. These protocols offer the highest speeds under ideal conditions. Obstacles, other devices, and channel congestion can also limit bandwidth.

It also works with 802.11ac at 5GHz Wi-Fi speed

It's the quickest option available. This doesn't always mean it uses that specific protocol; it might revert to a previous one because signal strength is weak from interference with nearby devices or signals.

You're unsure about the protocol being used. I don't have any insight into your setup for confirming 802.11ac.

Open the Start menu, type "View Network Connections," and double-click the Wi-Fi. You'll see details like Speed in Mbps. On your laptop it's around 144 Mbps, while your wired desktop reaches 1 Gbps.
