Hello everyone, I just completed my latest PC build yesterday. Here are the details: - Ryzen 7 3700X - MSI B550 Tomahawk - 2x8 GB Thermaltake ToughRAM @3600MHz - Zotac 1660Ti - Coolers Master 750W PSU - Samsung Evo M.2 NVMe SSD - NZXT H510 Elite The issue started yesterday when I installed two 8 GB RAM sticks from Thermal Take, which were already installed before. Today morning, after adding more identical 8 GB modules, the system started working properly. However, when I power on the PC in EZ Debug, the DRAM LED lights up a solid red. The computer is fully powered but still won’t boot. Everything appears to be on, yet it fails to start. Removing the new modules allows the system to boot normally, but adding more modules causes the same problem and the DRAM LED stays red. I’ve tried clearing CMOS and booting with default BIOS settings, but nothing works. 2x8 GB RAM is functioning correctly, but adding more causes the same issue. Is there a solution to this? I’m sure someone can help me out. Looking forward to your advice. Best regards.
Erase the CMOS, combine different modules with the existing ones, test by booting using only the new setup. If none of the new configurations start up, it may indicate a problem with the new kit.
Turn off ECC in BIOS—I’m not sure MSI has this option. On ASUS I had to increase DRAM Current Capability from 100% to 120%-130% for four sticks to function correctly. Also, you might need to adjust the protODT setting, usually around 40-60 ohms.
They match exactly. The serial numbers differ by only a single digit, starting from 20 apart.
The CPU is functioning properly. The system operates smoothly with 2x8 GB of RAM. The issue arises when adding two additional 8 GB RAM sticks—then the debug LED in DRAM activates and prevents booting. Removing them resolves the problem, and they work correctly when placed in place of the original modules. I’m having trouble figuring out if the new RAM is faulty. It’s unclear because swapping them with existing RAM doesn’t always solve the issue.
