I bought a Gigabyte B550i AORUS Pro AX inside the NZXT H1 for my build. I paired it with a Ryzen 5 3600 and tried overclocking, finally reaching a stable 4.3GHz at 1.35v. There was a problem with Bluetooth not being detected by Windows, which I resolved through several steps like updating the BIOS and removing network devices. The last step was clearing the CMOS, which seemed to fix it. I then began overclocking from scratch and did some initial tests that were confusing. In Task Manager, my clock speed was showing around 4.8-4.9GHz, which seemed off, but Windows was likely misreporting. HWinfo indicated stock speeds of 3.6GHz, but it would increase to 4.2GHz. The most puzzling part was the baseline scores. I ran Cinebench20, which claimed my CPU was at 4.3GHz—surprisingly high. When I used the CPU test on 3DMark Time Spy, I got a score of 8008. After rebooting into BIOS, everything reset to default, but when I switched back to Windows, speeds normalized to around 3600 on C20 and 7500 on 3DMark. How could this be? I’m still trying to understand what happened.

The task manager tends to be unreliable, which explains the surprise. Regarding the score, was the pbo/auto OC feature turned on?

Windows' task manager is famously inaccurate when it comes to showing update rates. In my case, the 3770K runs at 6 GHz +

I thought the task manager would work as expected, but the results were confusing. I believed all configurations were left at the default level when I reset the CMOS, even though I hadn't adjusted them during the initial overclocking.

It's strange. Maybe double-check that you didn't have pbo or autoOC enabled just in case. If it wasn't, the varying scores seem unusual.

I'm currently at my job, but I'll share their values once I can.
