Hello, you're considering an Overkill gaming setup and are thinking about Corsair parts. For your current ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 build, the 48GB DDR5 Vengeance RGB is a solid choice for 4K gaming with Max Graphics. The 96GB version offers more memory but won't necessarily provide a noticeable speed boost unless you're running multiple high-demand applications at once. Stick with the 48GB if you want reliable performance without overspending.

I don’t understand the game or the number of mods you’re attempting to run. However, 48GB should work fine. Linus showed that Chrome crashes before you can use that much memory.

Checking if 5600Hz is sufficient with your GPU and Intel i9-13900K.

If you're feeling confident and saved money by skipping the 96GB, consider upgrading to a bit faster RAM with solid timings. This will help future-proof your setup a little. The GPU shouldn't really strain the RAM much, but there might be slight differences in performance when handling tasks at higher speeds. Based on what you mentioned, that's likely the goal. I'd recommend going with a 6400 MHz option.

When playing games, you don't really need 96GB of RAM, let alone 48GB. In fact, more than what you have isn't helpful. People have mentioned wanting faster RAM, but adding extra won't help much.

You were correct about the situation. It looked like there were 6000 tabs and 180GB of RAM, but it seems you needed more memory. Chrome didn’t perform as expected even with that amount.

I'm tired of needing 48 or 96 GB. It suggests you're combining a 32 and a 16 GB kit, or a 64 and a 32 kit. DDR5 IMCs have trouble supporting four identical RAM sticks from the same kit right now. I wouldn't set up a DDR5 flex at this stage. Better stick with 32 or 64 GB using two 16 or two 32 sticks.

Question any typical game requiring 48GB? But mods have no such restrictions. I mistakenly allocated all 64GB when setting up assets in Cities Skylines. Beyond that, 32GB should suffice. There are now 24GB modules available. It makes sense that 4 sticks could slow things down. Edit: for the main player, a 2x32GB setup seems ideal for balance of space and speed.
