The 3600 includes four cores per CCX, though one is inactive in each. Zen 2 processors offer either eight or sixteen cores, depending on the number of disabled units.

Every Epyc, Threadripper, and standard desktop Ryzen uses the same die for CPU cores. Variations come from the quantity of dies assigned and core activation per die. The exception applies to laptop chips and desktop APUs, which use traditional monolithic dies. Some budget models, like certain Athlon variants, employ smaller dies with fewer cores. Older Zen and Zen+ processors originally featured just four cores per die. From what I understand, all Ryzen Zen 2-based parts—including APUs—begin with a minimum of eight cores across two four-core CCXs on the same die.

They now produce both 6-core and 8-core CCDs and combine them for models like the 9900X and 9950X. I thought they used the same setup before, expecting a single CCD such as in the 5600, 7600, or 9600 series. Searching online reveals a dual CCX 5600 with 12 cores, though one of them is laser-cut and not working.

3600 performed better than expected with an undervolt setting. Adjusting the voltage helped it run cooler and used less power, cutting consumption from 65W to around 130W while boosting responsiveness by about 5-10 FPS. Using 3600 MHz RAM and configuring the frequency to 1800 would further enhance performance, especially for gaming.
