4770k Enhancement - Gaming, Editing, Streaming
Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been here. I'm planning to upgrade my PC because my 4770k is slowing things down. I play at 1440p 60 or 1080p 144hz, and I'm aiming for 1440p 144hz later this year. I edit 4K footage with my Sony A73 in DaVinci Resolve. I'm trying to stream a bit—probably using NVENC—and I'm not sure how much it depends on the CPU. Most games are fine, but some new titles like COD Warzone are pushing my CPU to full capacity during gameplay. Editing 4K is also causing lag. My current setup is a 4770k with 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM at 2400MHz and an EVGA graphics card. I'm budgeting around £350, but could stretch it to £500 if I find something better that boosts performance. I might invest in faster NVMe SSDs. My top choices are a Ryzen 3600 with either 16 or 32GB RAM, though the 10th Gen 10600K is coming up soon and looks strong. Let's catch up soon!
Not found any details about the 10th generation components. If I had an Intel processor, I’d likely stick to the older system for streaming. Alternatively, I could try AMD and see if it works without affecting performance. Still, my current rig remains functional but struggles at around 95% utilization, causing frame drops.
We’re unsure how the new Intel CPUs will compare to Zen 2. The expected IPC is solid, though the memory controller isn’t great. The cache latency on Intel chips isn’t terrible, so it’s not a major concern. Still, I suggest waiting—Intel’s 4770K should keep up well for a few weeks or months ahead.
