I'm currently running a 2700X on a ASUS ROG Strix X470-F. I want to swap this out with a 3700X. My understanding is that this board can run a 3700X, just without support for PCI gen4. Is this correct, or should I wait until a new board can be acquired as well? Thanks!

As long as you have the most recent bios, you're all set.

Avoid PCIe 4 for now; wait another three years. Upgrading to 3700x won’t be a huge change—your board should handle it with a BIOS update.
