4670K overclocking help
Hi! For overclocking 4670k with ASUS Z97 Pro Gamer, you might want to explore BIOS settings beyond just multiplier and voltage. Check the tutorial for guidance on optimal cache ratios and stock clock speed.
Zerk2012 :
Fairly simple sync all cores, multiplier and voltage. On my GB board 4790K running 4.6 I'm at 1.22 volts. Unless your just trying to get the max overclock you can their really no reason to change anything else unless you run into instability issues.
I set sync all cores, voltage to 1.250 and actual clock to 4.5 and 4.4, other didn't boot into windows and other bsod ten seconds of prime95
Do i need to tweak bios more to get 4.4 or 4.5?
May require additional vCore and (CPU voltage), as each 4670K unit has unique needs for a specific OC. Voltage levels vary, so not all can reach the same high speeds. Silicon Lottery applies here. The guide references 4770K but maintains consistency across all CPU lines.
your vcore is reported as 1.7v by hwmonitor, but the cpu voltage in bios shows vid according to hwmonitor. how long should you run prime95? will a single run under intel burn test suffice? and what about gaming performance?
Tradesman1 suggests considering additional vCore and CPU voltage adjustments since each 4670K unit behaves differently in terms of voltage needs. It also mentions that not all CPUs can reach the same high speeds, referring to the Silicon Lottery. The post references a link about Intel Haswell i7-74770K overclocking review, noting it runs at 4.4GHz with 1.3V and questions if 4.5GHz is feasible.
