4070ti will stay under 20% TDP usage
I’m still dealing with the same issues. Essentially, my PC has been problematic since it arrived about a year ago. It runs AMD Ryzen 7 7700X on an ASROCK B650 Live Mixer, with 32GB RAM and a 4070ti GPU. The power supply is Corsair RM850. I installed the latest Windows 11 (23H2) and faced some GPU problems. After returning the card to the vendor, they confirmed it was fine. Eventually, I got a BIOS update that gave me a more stable setup, but random crashes and no POST issues kept happening. The motherboard ended up being faulty, so I replaced it. Now everything works smoothly for about three days—no crashes. However, my GPU only handles around 20% of its TDP (or 60 watts). The system is very slow overall. If I skip the NVIDIA drivers and use just the Microsoft Basic Video driver, it runs much faster. I’ve tried reinstalling Windows, forcing PCIe Gen 4, checking cables, using a PCIE extender, and updating drivers. Still, every few restarts it works. The FURMark shows high TDP usage even at 1440p, but games like F1 24 and RDR2 run well for hours. I’m leaning toward getting a new PSU to rule out hardware problems, but I’m unsure if it’s software or something else.
Try reinstalling Windows to check if the RMA card is the problem. If it still feels wrong, go back to the RMA board—it might be a motherboard issue after all. This seems unusual and hard to explain.
Windows has been reinstalled. It took about nine weeks for the return of our product, and I’m hoping to prevent this from happening again.
Check the card in another platform—perhaps a friend's setup—or run a test on the shop. If the issue isn't with the GPU, replace the return board and get a fresh one.
