4070 Ti Super functions properly with the top GPU slot while 3070 does not.
Hi all, I'm having a really strange issue. I bought a Gigabyte 4070 Ti Super Aero OC to replace my Asus TUF 3070 OC. However, when I install the GPU onto the top slot, the motherboard cycles through all the POST codes as if it wants to boot. But once it reaches the VBIOS LED with a code of A2, the LED jumps back to CPU and the code reads 00. After which it immediately turns off and the PC does this cycle again and again until I turn the power off. The 3070 however, works in this slot just fine. The PC does boot when the 4070 is inserted into the 2nd slot but because it's a Z690 board it only runs at PCIe 4.0 x8 instead of x16. Benchmarks run fine but because it sits quite low the card seems to be suffocated by the PSU shroud, which is definitely a concern. Things I've tried: Reinserting my 3070 - works fine on both slots Using both the 12vhpwr cable and 2x standard pcie 8 pin + adapter from my RM850x Shift - no difference Updating BIOS - no difference Reseating CPU - no difference Reseating RAM and trying individual sticks - no difference Removing all drives - no difference One new issue that has since popped up is that on cold boot it states that there is no vBIOS support for this card or something along the lines of that. It proceeds to boot up fine afterwards though. I'm considering getting a riser for the card but the NV5 seems to require a proprietary one that is unfortunately not sold in the country. The other option is to get a whole new platform but I'm really not keen on spending more cash as I've already dropped a bomb on this 4070 Ti Super. My motherboard is out of warranty and replacements are basically half the cost of a 9800x3d + b650 board so honestly I can't justify that either. Used replacement boards aren't that much cheaper.
