Helping your friend set up his first PC is exciting! For a £400 budget, focus on essential components like a decent CPU, RAM, storage, and a reliable motherboard. Use PC Part Picker as your guide to find good deals. A solid mid-range build could include an Intel or AMD processor, 8GB RAM, SSD storage, and a basic graphics card for everyday tasks. Keep costs in mind and prioritize performance over flashy specs. Let me know if you need more details!

What tasks do you plan for the PC? Remember, if you're using a parts picker, keep in mind there are affordable second-hand options available.

I would remove some funds from the PC case and the motherboard to install a Ryzen 5 3400G with Vega 11 graphics, offering a more powerful CPU overall.

The 3400G was too costly for a few reasons, which is why I would have chosen it originally. I understand that there are ways to cut expenses on the case, but I’d still prefer to keep the motherboard.

3200g costs 80pounds 3400g costs 120 so 40 pounds difference The mobo is nice but at this budget sacrifices need to be made and a better CPU is gonna have bigger overall impact in everyday usage than a better mobo
