They advised me on the steps before initiating a return, suggesting I first troubleshoot by contacting them. They recommended trying a different power supply if possible. Also, you were instructed to arrange the cables and power supply.

Explain the situation clearly: the card failed and then began smoking. They can attempt this using their own PSU, push for a higher claim, and forward the details. Even Dell’s support team isn’t that naive.
