I’m planning to begin a fresh build using a Threadripper 3960x and a Gigabyte designer motherboard. For RAM, I’m torn between two options: 4 x 32GB 3600 Corsair Vengeance Pro C18 or 4 x 16GB 3200 Corsair Dominator C16. I’d like to know if there’s a noticeable performance gap between them. Which one do you recommend? The system will host Unraid, several gaming VMs, Apple VM, Plex, and UniFi controller. Thanks for your assistance!

I would use the 64GB drive, providing roughly 16GB per user (keeping the remaining 16GB for the VMs). Otherwise, it would only offer 8GB each, which is insufficient for gaming and similar tasks.

It offers superior performance across all aspects, though the cost is a factor. If you have the budget, there’s no reason not to purchase it.

Are 3600 CL 18 and 3200 CL16 equivalent in performance? If you require 128GB, purchase it. Otherwise, opt for the 64GB version. RAM is affordable, so base your choice on what you need.
