What’s the top CAD program that’s simple to use for 3D modeling? I’m interested in trying it out and creating something useful for PC builds. I’ve seen many custom-built PCs turned into desktops, and I’d love to see one like that. If you know any good options, please share them—I appreciate it! I work often with Blender. It's an incredibly capable program, though it needs some time to master. Once you're comfortable, it becomes truly impressive. Plus, it's completely free. Many incredible projects have been created using it, and it was even utilized for the CGI in Spider-Man 2.
At college we use Blender which is free. I’m not sure how to get started since I couldn’t find good tutorials. I searched on Google and learned that students can get a free license for Autodesk 3DS MAX 2016 and some other Autodesk programs. I received mine today and it’s valid for three years, covering Maya 2016 as well.
The choice varies quite a bit depending on the style. I primarily use Blender, Maya, and ZBrush. For architecture, 3DS Max is common while Inventor seems to be the go-to for me. When it comes to 3D characters, ZBrush stands out for its quality and my preference against the mudbox process. In animation, Maya is my go-to, though alternatives seem fine. For rigging, Maya offers robust tools that simplify the process, which I find helpful since I dislike skinning. Texture painting tends to favor Blender, especially when working with models in Maya or 3DS. Overall, Blender covers everything, but it can be tricky to master due to its keyboard shortcuts. Ultimately, it depends on the task at hand; most software can handle the job, just varying in ease and speed.
I’ve put in 7 hours crafting this design in Autodesk 3DS MAX. The initial version looks promising, but I’m considering a white carbon finish instead of white. For arranging the hardware, could you share some ideas or preferences? Your input would be really helpful!
