3d mark benchmarking
3d mark benchmarking
Hey everyone, I recently tweaked my CPU, GPU, and RAM a bit and decided to test a benchmarking tool. I’ve heard great things about 3DMark, so I ran it just for fun before installing the new GTX 1080 I’ll get on Monday. I’m a bit puzzled though—my graphics score looks low even though I’m using a GTX 670, and my CPU score is also not what I expected. I’m wondering if the CPU performance changes depending on the graphics card I use. My overall score came in at 2027, with a graphics score of 1859 and a CPU score of 4182. When I checked online comparison results, my scores seem much lower than they should be.
Here’s what my system specs are:
- OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT
- CPU: Intel i7 3770K overclocked to 4.0GHz
- GPU: EVGA GTX 670 with overclocked cores and memory boost via MSI Afterburner; I also have an EVGA 1080 FTW card on the way
- PSU: SeaSonic M12II 650SS-650AM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V, 80 PLUS Bronze certified
- Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
- Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD and Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB 10,000 RPM HDD
- RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB), 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM, overclocked to 1866 @1.575V
I’m still trying to figure out why everything isn’t performing as expected.
I forgot to mention in my previous post that I was attempting to run Time Spy.
I performed another benchmark using skydiver, which gave me improved outcomes. My score came in at 19 200 frames per second.
I think once I install the 1080 and try Time Spy again, I’ll achieve higher results than before.
After testing and checking online, it indicates I’m about 2000 points away from a VR PC.
I’m curious how many points I’ll earn with just the 1080 resolution.
I’m hoping to surpass that 2000-point mark so I don’t fall short of the minimum requirements for VR.
