3D Builder Issues
3D Builder Issues
I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask or if anyone has any experience with this app, but!
I've been attempting to merge a 3D print I bought, which consists of 17 pieces totaling 3.29GB in 3D Builder.
I haven't used 3D Builder before, though others have suggested combining all the pieces together—it's considered the simplest method.
My first try was to drop everything into the software, which auto-merged them, then I saved as an STL file. After about five minutes, the program crashed.
Later, I attempted to save it in the default format (I can't recall the name) and left it for several hours without any progress. I stopped that and tried merging again, but it's been taking over an hour now with no clear status or crash warning.
Update: While I was testing it incorrectly, it crashed during the merging process.
What are the details of your setup? In particular, the processor and memory capacity, though sometimes a compact 3D package of 3.3GB can be quite demanding. Combining it into one description may put pressure on both the CPU and RAM.
3D Builder is a relatively simple tool.
It often faces challenges compared to other CAD applications.
The structure of your model can also affect performance.
Are there any other programs available that can accomplish the same task you're looking for? Some users have suggested a few alternatives, but when they tried them out, they couldn't locate anything suitable to help combine the components into a single unit.
I employ Rhino3D.
However, it isn't a cheap option.
3D Builder is mainly used for simple designs.
I'm trying to combine more than two parts at once using 3D Builder to test whether that approach will work. If it doesn't, I'll look into Rhino to find a way to merge everything instead.
Rhino3D offers a trial phase. Following that, the regular price is $900. It's a highly detailed CAD tool.
