I currently have a standard 1080p setup. I’m considering upgrading to 1440p in the future, but I’m unsure what options fit my available space—maybe around 24 or 26 inches—and how they’ll affect performance and cost.

It looks like a solid build with room for improvement. For a workstation, I’d favor PCIe Gen 4 over consumer-grade chips designed otherwise—like a gaming rig. More importantly, unless there’s been a significant update, reviews suggest the B450 reaches its peak performance at around 12 cores for optimal power handling. I doubt it can fully utilize the 16-core processor, though it should still run fine. In terms of cooling, it’s manageable; the DRP4 should handle things well and its low TDP means a top-tier air cooler will suffice. The build quality is impressive, and with the 3950X, you’ll have a great experience pushing performance limits.

I rely on a DRP4 chip in my 3950X. For better heat management, a manual overclock is beneficial. I keep all 16 cores running at 4.2GHz and 1.225V, which helps me beat the 3950X when PBO is active.

well I wont be ocing the thing. ill be at stock. however I do know that some of the b450 boards can handle the 3950x but with adequate airflow. also the pcie4 isn't a main concern of mine since pci3 doesn't saturate the whole bandwidth. in fact most if not all pcie3 builds have headroom and pcie4 is even more bandwidth. I really don't need the extra bandwidth unless I would be using ryzen 4000 or better. beside next year am5 will be out and it will have pcie4 on it. so its a wait and see for me with the boards that will be newer. but yeah I can build with the best of them. I might get a 3900x for a server computer build.

Don't want to lower the 10C+ range too much, okay? You're free to decide.
