3900XT paired with Asus ROG Strix X570-F for gaming performance
Hello everyone, I'm just setting up my first AMD system after a long time. It's a 3900XT and the only adjustment I made was to enable DOCP in the BIOS, which lets my RAM run at 3600MHz. While playing Warzone, HWMonitor and Task Manager show my CPU around 4.15GHz, and I haven't noticed it reaching higher. Should I tweak the BIOS settings to push it up to 4.7GHz, or is my cooling solution insufficient (Fractal Celsius S28 Prism)? I found a screenshot of the BIOS stating a target CPU speed of 3800MHz—do you think that's correct or am I misreading? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt
I think the confusion comes from tracking the overall clock speed rather than per-core speeds. You can check this using hwinfo64 or Ryzen Master. Remember, 4.7 GHz refers to a single core boost, not an all-core boost. AMD clarified that: for example, between 4.1 and 4.2 GHz is typical, around 4.4 for top performance CPUs.
