3900x vs Dual Xeon
3900x vs Dual Xeon
Checked the link. It discusses running ZBrush with an AMD Threadripper processor.
Uncertain about the motherboard prices, but early and even second-generation Threadripper CPUs are quite affordable. For example, around $300 for a 16-core processor.
And naturally I'm pleased—I managed the top alternative within my budget. There could have been many other options, but they'd all turn out to be worse, so I'm truly fortunate. Still, it's not flawless... But that's fine. That's just life, right? Yeah, I've got a lot of comments about hardware for Zbrush, and this one was completely off the mark. For the story, I nearly spent $10,700 on this thread. But after watching that video, I switched to the 3900x... Because nothing bothers more than dealing with a slow viewport.
Before purchasing the 3900x, I looked for any threadripper configuration that could handle concurrency... I discovered none at $450$, making the 3900x the top choice. However, now with a $450$ budget, two Xeon units are the optimal option! The main drawback would be its high power usage—two 120 watt processors... That’s significantly more than the 3900x.
