considering the stock cooler for the 3900x temporarily, do you have an alternative plan to either switch to an air cooler or get an AIO? also, is there any way to make the CPU run at its base frequency instead of boosting above 4GHz? The boost helps during games but can be annoying when just watching videos. I tried using Gigabyte software to adjust heat speed, but it still fluctuates. Thanks in advance!

You can cap the CPU at 65W TDP using Ryzen Master or BIOS settings. Alternatively, tweak the fan curve and keep it unchanged. If you modify the curve, it’s best to run the fan at higher speeds more often—this will make it louder most of the time, but you’ll eliminate the sudden noise spikes, which can be quite bothersome.

You can check Ryzen Master for that feature by searching its settings or options menu, especially under performance or advanced settings. If you're new to AMD CPUs, start with the main CPU settings and look for performance tuning or power management options.

Start by removing Gigabyte's tuning tools. They might be faulty and contributing to the problem. Next, refresh the BIOS and chipset driver updates.

Consider purchasing a tower or water cooler, as this is currently the second most powerful AMD gaming CPU available. Alternatively, adjust your fan settings in the BIOS, switching the CPU fan to PWM mode if possible.

In BIOS you can keep the fan speed at idle until the CPU hits 50°C. The CPU may move back and forth as needed, but the fans will only start spinning once the temperature reaches that point.

It was hard to locate because I hadn’t used it before, but here’s how to turn it on. Make sure PBO is activated in the BIOS so the ECO mode choice appears in Ryzen Master. Then the ECO mode toggle should be visible directly above Control Mode—if not on the home screen, pick Profile 1 or 2 and enable that there.

Bios has been refreshed, the chipset is updated, and it works with an AMD Ryzen balanced power plan approach—though it didn’t quite deliver. The gigabyte software serves as their fan tuning tool.

I’m considering getting an AIO since I already have the correct fans, but I was aiming to keep costs low until I upgrade the GPU and save up more. Eventually, I’d like to switch to a full watercooling setup.

it appears the device is still synchronizing with its base clock, causing the fan to oscillate
