3900x core locked at 1.1 during multiplier adjustment
3900x core locked at 1.1 during multiplier adjustment
i have an asus rog crosshair hero vii until recently. i used a 3900x at 4.45ghz with 1.325v, then changed the ram to ddr3600, reset the cmos, and reconfigured oc settings. however, when i touch the multiplier setting, my vcore stays stuck at 1.1 and doesn’t adjust. if i leave it untouched, it behaves normally, but my manual vcore is ignored. the bios shows the correct vcore value, but windows doesn’t reflect it. running cinebench r20 causes instability when i overclock via bios. i can override both vcore and multiplier using ryzen master, though it only allows a maximum vcore setting, not a minimum. to stabilize the system, i need to keep the voltage at 1.325 or slightly higher, but avoid exceeding it. changing the memory seems to be affecting this behavior. what’s happening?
Remove CMOS, extract the battery—PC needs some disassembly. Wait briefly, reinstall. Keep RAM at around 3200 MHz. Still experiencing the problem? What about using a different Vcore offset?
The issue occurs without considering memory speed. I have a visible CMOS button on the exterior of the case, but that didn’t resolve it. Taking the battery out might help. Regarding "vcore offset," you should input the correct value based on your specific board settings. If it’s stuck at 1.1V, double-check the documentation for accurate parameters.
I verified the memory again, but the issue persists. It’s unclear precisely when the voltage problem began. When I received the CPU, it functioned perfectly, which is confusing. I thought all tools were just misreading the data, but after adjusting the voltage via Ryzen Master, everything displayed correctly. Recently, I checked hwinfo and saw 1.1V at "core #1 vid" (and others), while the expected core voltage (SVI2 TFN) is different. What’s the gap between these two readings?
Turn off Cool & Quiet settings, it will lock the CPU clock speed and voltage.
I've never encountered this configuration before; could you clarify where you found it?
