3800xt, MSI B550 Tomahawk runs without BIOS but launches directly into Windows
Hi there, new setup but facing issues accessing BIOS. After finishing the build, I powered on and the screen went dark. I assumed something was broken or the installation was off but after rebuilding everything it worked fine. (11th PC, first time trouble). I installed a different SSD with Windows 10 on the same CPU but a different motherboard—it boots into Windows 10 perfectly. I’m confused why I can’t enter BIOS and when I try to restart from Windows Fast Boot, the screen stays black without showing BIOS details. I’ve also tried flashing the board with three different BIOS versions, but the problem persists.
Is your CPU equipped with built-in graphics? If yes, consider disconnecting the GPU and utilizing the internal video outputs to access the BIOS. I recall this happened for someone with both a dedicated GPU and an integrated one—just read the title! If not, perhaps switch to another graphics card if available.
You might also consider this option if you have an Nvidia GPU: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/nv-...pdate-x64/ (the 4 bullet points could work for an AMD card too) I believe it's mostly connected to the GPU. Your GPU isn't necessarily broken or dead, but it fails to display the POST/BIOS/boot animation on the screen.
