preview: 3770k
mobo gigabyte z77m-d3h
gtx 670 windforce
corsair TX 650
i tested the CPU and it caps at 4.2ghz, beyond that the system freezes in the BIOS menu and I have to reset the BIOS to fix it.
the motherboard doesn’t allow a Vcore voltage setting—it auto-adjusts. In the CPU, I noticed it increasing up to 1.2V, which suggests a motherboard issue rather than a CPU problem! anyone has an idea? Thanks.

It's a motherboard issue. The lower-end model lacks core voltage settings, and I'm not sure about the multiplier option, though I think it might be possible since you mentioned you can still overclock the CPU. A 1.2 voltage is typical for such CPUs.

there is a multiplier, the issue arises if I configure anything higher than 4.2 causing the system to crash

It's not unusual, but increasing the multiplier without adjusting core voltages can lead to instability. The options seem limited, so perhaps a different motherboard with manual core voltage control would be better.

Hello, I'm upgrading my 3770k to 4.2ghz! Any higher than that causes crashes and forces a BIOS reset. My motherboard doesn't support core voltage options (z77m-d3h). Is there a way to upgrade it without changing the voltage? Are there any settings that can automatically increase the voltage? Thanks.
