Hello, for future-proofing at 1440p and 144Hz, which option shines more? The Ryzen 3700X or the i9 9900K? I lean toward the Ryzen mainly because of cost. Still, the i9 9900K seems slightly better now, but with newer GPUs like the RTX 2080 Ti, the gap might widen even more. What do you think?

3700x offers solid performance for gaming and productivity, allowing upgrades to 3900x or 3950x on the same board. Both 3700x and 9900k support the RTX 2080 Ti well.

The 3700X with 3600mhz Cl16 RAM will perform well at its lower cost. The difference in performance will remain consistent. Your CPU sets the maximum FPS or refresh rate, while your GPU controls resolution and quality settings. If you're assembling a new PC, consider your budget, country, and the current monitor's resolution and refresh rate.

Appreciate the info, your setup runs at 144Hz/1440p with G-Sync. Your RAM specs are Ballistix DDR4 32GB at 3000MHz CL15.

I don't have a CPU or GPU myself, but I'm ready to help with any questions you have about them!

Sold the CPU along with the motherboard. The GPU is a GTX 1080 Ti, and I intend to upgrade to a next-generation high-end GPU once the RTX 2080 Ti is available.

When adjusting game settings in titles such as Shadows/Reflections or AA, you can maintain performance on a 1080ti for some time while gaming at 1440p. If wireless isn’t required, the board’s VRM will suffice. Consider boosting memory speeds through overclocking or opting for a dual 16GB module, which simplifies high-speed operation but adds complexity.

PCPartPicker List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qn2H6s
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core ($309.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS ATX AM4 ($164.99 @ B&H)
Total: $474.98 (shipping, taxes, discounts applied)
