3700x Temperature Inquiry
3700x Temperature Inquiry
Hey everyone! This week was a milestone—I finally completed my first build. It’s looking good so far, and I’ve been using it for a couple of days now. The part list is attached. For cooling, I opted for the stock 3700x cooler. Initially, I used the built-in thermal pad, but after moving it, I disassembled everything and cleaned the paste with IPA. When reassembling, I applied IC Diamond 7 Carat Thermal Compound. The case cooling comes from the three fans inside and the three RGB fans I added for exhausts, which stabilize around 40°C. To verify performance, I ran HWinfo64 and saw CPU temps staying between 70-80°C, often hitting the mid-90s. I did some light coding and played Fortnite while logging data. The graphs below show the temps and clocks. For a quick check, I logged three times and got consistent results. This isn’t typical—any thoughts on why the CPU gets so hot? Right now it’s about 70°C with a few tabs open. If I want to keep it, the CPU return policy is one week left. Should I think about exchanging it?
Expectations around 85/90°C could trigger CPU throttling. Check ambient temperatures and run stress tests such as Cinebench R20. Use tools like hwinfo or Ryzen Master for accurate thermal monitoring. Consider reseating the cooler and reapplying thermal paste.
Thanks for the update! The temperatures you shared are quite high, especially near 95°C during Cinebench. It’s not uncommon for CPUs to reach such temperatures under load, but it depends on your cooling setup and workload. Consider checking fan performance and ensuring proper airflow.
I'm working with hwinfo64 and transferring logged data into Excel for visual reports. The Maingear Vybe (Amazon listing) caught my attention due to the sales representative mentioning strong airflow. I plan to follow up after reworking and reassembling, then testing with the open panel.
Checked the product page and confirmed it matches the listing. It's also shown as "MAINGEAR Vybe RGB Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Gaming Computer Case - Liquid Cooling Ready - White" on Amazon. Purchased from Micro Center, but the details look correct. Appreciate your assistance and I'll share the test results soon.
