I completed my first personal PC today! It has a 3700X and maintains an idle temperature around 45°C on the desktop. I've noticed it can sustain up to 1.5V under all stock configurations. (My room is warm, especially since it's summer in Australia.) Is this typical? Will the built-in prism cooler be enough for gaming? I don’t do any professional work.

The stock cooler is enough if you don't do long sessions of benchmarking loads for no reason. 45c idle is about where a 3700x sits. 1.5v is a bit high but as long as its not for hours on end it's fine too. If you're just looking at stuff like HWInfo and looking at "Max" then that's just a spike. I'd want a better cooler for my own peace of mind but the stock one is good enough for gaming. I used it for a bit while waiting for my AIO to arrive.

Certainly, I've conducted P95 evaluations using the stock cooler too. It hasn't shown any significant thermal throttling even in a climate-controlled space, and since I'm in Malaysia near the equator with consistent summer temperatures, that's quite impressive.

Played a couple rounds of CoD MW with max temp reaching 86°C using a stock prism cooler and paste. Stock paste worked, but no overclocking was done. It appears temperatures rise when apps like Chrome launch, causing the fan to speed up noticeably.
