In my country Ryzen's cost keeps rising each day. Today it’s around 218 dollars. Most importers say the price won’t drop soon, maybe in about two months. I decided to buy the 3600x for roughly 260 dollars. Was I making a mistake by choosing that price? My cooler temperature jumped from 2500 to 2700 during normal use (around 40 to 50°C). Is this typical? How can I adjust the CPU fan speed in Windows? I’m using a B450 board, Gigabyte B450M S2h. Should I try overclocking the R5 3600x?
A 20% boost might feel excessive given the modest clock improvements and enhanced cooling.
The difference between 3600 and 3600X is minimal, and you're seeing typical temperatures. You can adjust your fan speed through the BIOS settings. It's unclear if Ryzen Master offers a way to modify fan speed in Windows, so you might want to explore some overclock guides on YouTube using the same board. Your cooling setup appears acceptable, but what type of cooler are you using? Based on my experience, high-end Gigabyte boards can be tricky to overclock.
I own a 3600X but use the Wraith Prism from a friend who has a 2700X. My temp stays around 40-45 during idle. Just adjust the fan speeds in the BIOS if it sounds like a jet engine. When I first tried the Wraith Prism on my rig, it spiked randomly, so I modified the fan curve in the BIOS. Also, download Ryzen Master—it likely has fan speed controls.
