Hey there! You're weighing up two options for your gaming rig. The R5 3600 is cheaper right now but has a lower spec, while the R7 3700X offers better performance for gaming and streaming. Since you already have a solid build with an i5 6400 and a 1070 with 16GB RAM, you might want to consider the upgrade if you're looking for more power. The new build includes a M-series CPU and GPU, which could really boost your experience. Just think about whether the extra cost is worth the performance gain for your current needs.

It's definitely possible to run the stream smoothly with it and you'll have significantly more space available.

Straightforward, 3600 is a solid choice with 6 cores and 12 threads. Your old Xeon 6c 12T performs well, and upgrading to the 3900X later will be rewarding. You can upgrade eventually, but right now it’s a great option. Share your pick and thoughts when you’re done. The 3700X offers about 7-8% improvement, though gaming FPS gains won’t be huge. For your needs, I recommend the 3600 at this price point.

You should use NVENC for streaming with your Nvidia Turing or Pascal GPU, as the 3600 works well. If not, consider the 3700X. For personal preference, I’d opt for the X570 Gaming Pro Carbon, wait for MSI’s X570 Tomahawk, or choose an ASUS TUF X570-PLUS. Current mid-range X570 boards from MSI have poor VRM quality, limiting upgrades.

I completely support this. A 3600 would be ideal, and you can allocate the surplus funds toward additional storage or possibly a GPU upgrade. If you anticipate needing higher performance later, consider investing in a 3700X or 3900X—the prices should drop once the Ryzen 4000 is released in a short time.

This video was recently added. Keep in mind the test runs on an RTX 2080 Ti, which could enhance the performance differences between the 3700X and the 3600.

Thanks for the notice about the motherboard. Unfortunately, it was a last-minute deal, but it was affordable, so I might keep it for a while.
