Hello, I'm just starting out with overclocking and recently tried the auto overclock option on my motherboard. I pushed it to 4.2ghz and when using Prime95, the voltage reads 1.168v on CPU-Z, but HWmonitor shows a higher value around 1.246v. The temperatures are between 68 and 75°C during Prime95 runs. Is this all typical? Thank you!

About 1.250 v is the expected voltage from the CPU without any manual adjustments to the core when operating at 4.2 Ghz speed.
The lower voltage level of 1.168v would be observed if the CPU core ran at roughly 800 Mhz to 1.2Ghz thanks to Intel's speed step technology.

Shaun says it should be around 1.250 v from the CPU without any manual adjustments to the core when running at 4.2 Ghz. The lower voltage reading of 1.168v would appear if the CPU speed were around 800 Mhz to 1.2Ghz thanks to Intel's speed step technology. Warleader165 asks if everything is normal and whether it won't harm the CPU, also inquiring about temperatures.
