3300x processor with 32GB RAM across four sticks
Hello, I'm trying to assemble a backup PC using some of my old components, possibly for hosting a game server. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the 3300X can support 32GB of DDR4 2800MHz RAM across four sticks. I haven't found any clear answers online, and I'm not very comfortable with research. My 1600 model doesn’t work with four sticks either, so I’m just checking for confirmation. Thanks, Deltius.
Always use two DIMMs. The 3300X needs a stronger memory controller, but the board also affects compatibility with other boards.
You're checking the frequency and making sure it's 2800MHz. Could you share more details about the device or model? I'm here to help clarify anything you need.
The board uses a B450 Mortar Titanium. From a memory standpoint, it seems solid—currently running 64GB at 3200MHz. Regarding the RAM, it’s actually 2400MHz, which caused some issues before I checked. The main goal of the secondary PC is to utilize my existing components (I prefer not to keep them unused). The only upgrade planned is the CPU since my 1600 struggles with four sticks. I was searching for a reasonably affordable CPU, and the 3300X looks like a good match.
