300mbps isn't fast enough for 480p video on YouTube
I'm experiencing an unusually fast Speedtest over Wi-Fi, possibly due to a 10-year-old or similar setup. On Wi-Fi 5, I can handle 5400 Mbps, but even then, streaming 480p videos with buffering for more than a minute is frustrating. Every time I visit this forum, the cloud flare human check appears, and many sites fail to load properly. It seems the issue might be related to my ISP or network configuration. Switching to another network on my backup ISP works well, though it only offers 150 Mbps symmetrically—much slower than the 300 Mbps option, which was prohibitively expensive. I'm in India, so these speeds are considered adequate for basic use. What could be causing this problem?
The problem continued on both my laptop and 2017 iPad Pro. It seems the computing power wasn’t sufficient, especially since most devices run smoothly when AC is on. The temperature was around 45°C. The router issue isn’t the cause either; Cloudflare checks appear automatically when visiting their sites or forums, suggesting the site needs protection against DDoS if configured that way.
