3000mhz memory installed on H310 device
Hello, I'm purchasing a used system for my friend on a tight budget. He has two 3000 MHz RAM sticks, likely from GSKill, and plans to build a gaming setup. I'm checking local listings and noticed an ad for a H310 M.2 DS2 with 8 GB RAM, Intel 8400, and GTX 1070. It doesn't have RAM, but I'll install the 3000 MHz RAM in it. Will that work at 3000 MHz? Also, will the GPU perform optimally compared to his current AMD 2400G APU? I've attached the motherboard image. The total comes to about $180 plus a one-year warranty, making it a solid offer.
What's the total cost—motherboard plus CPU and GPU? Or is it just the motherboard alone? This board is very minimal... but the memory should function, though it might be limited to 2400mhz.
The search results indicate compatibility only up to 2666MHz.
1. Yeah, but between 2666 and 3000mhz it's not huge . 2. i5-8400 might be slightly faster at some games and some photo editing tasks, but 2600 will be faster at everything else with resources because it has SMT and the 8400 lacks HT. If I had to pick one, I'd pick the 2600.
Thanks everyone, planning to purchase it tomorrow. He’s fine with 2666. In the meantime, I’m working on customizing my 2400G.
She has the most affordable H310 I've managed to locate; we're pairing it with an extra I3-8350K, connected to an RX 570 and 16GB 2666(2400) RAM. It performs flawlessly for its purpose. The BIOS on these H-series boards is quite minimal, offering limited tweaking options but still delivering stable operation. I'd consider swapping the stock Intel cooler for a higher-quality one and adding some extra cooling around the VRM on an i5, though it should still function well.
