As mentioned, I own two Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 8GB modules. They are designed for 3000MHz, but my motherboard only supports 2666MHz. The system has been automatically adjusted to 2133MHz, yet the XMP settings only allow a maximum of 3000MHz. Would changing it to 2666MHz affect the board? It’s a B365 chipset.

It shouldn't harm the motherboard; the most likely outcome is it won't boot, requiring a return to the BIOS settings.

Checking safety and stability at 3000MHz is important. Adjusting XMP to 2666 while preserving timing isn’t ideal; manual frequency changes are better for consistency.

The worst outcome could be a system crash; clearing the CMOS is generally safe. Lowering the speed is an option, though ramming it too high is considered very risky and rarely done.

You can maintain the same timing as the XMP profile while reducing the frequency, but ensure compatibility. Different frequencies may require adjusted timing settings.

Timing and speed are distinct factors that work together to influence RAM performance. For someone new, just enable XMP and adjust only the frequency.

I confirmed everything started up correctly the first time. The settings are now Auto, and they adjusted to new values automatically. I think these updated numbers are a better fit for the current frequency. More precise tuning is possible, but this seems improved over the old settings.
