1080p remains the standard, while 1440p and 4k appeal to those with greater resources. Esports players frequently opt for resolutions below 1080p. The choice ultimately depends on your preferences.

the steam survey is indeed a useful indicator. It involves collecting data through automated systems, which helps in monitoring the process effectively.

Steam carries out a monthly check-in to gather insights on the types of computer equipment and software our users are employing. Taking part is voluntary and keeps identities private. The data collected proves extremely valuable for shaping our technology choices and product offerings.

2k remains a very high resolution.
Many users continue to enjoy at 1080p.
You can still experience the same enjoyment by playing in 4k, just like with 2k...
In simple terms
It depends on your monitor now. If it supports 4k then 2k will appear blurry. If it's limited to 1080p then 2k will look blurry but the edges won't be as noticeable.

720p works just fine; focus on the settings that suit you. Few people play in 4K—it's demanding and doesn't justify the cost.

1080p works well for gaming, but I prefer a 3440 x 1440 monitor to have more desktop area, which helps with productivity.

This is like not drinking something in the desert because you want to wait to get a better brand of water later. Or not driving to work because you want to wait to buy a car with leather seats and a V8. Just do what you do with what you have as was said already. Don't follow what other people do, do what you can or want to do. Do you ask what others favorite color is before you buy a shirt for yourself or do you pick what you like yourself? There is no right or wrong thing you can do here.

The usual standard remains at 1080. Many games could support 1440 and 4K, but most are not designed for those resolutions yet.

Sorry guys, I haven’t used my other computer much, which makes it hard for me to find its specifications. Also, regarding the desert comment, I have other games that aren’t recent. Also, yes, what’s the standard today?
