The device needs at least 1 meg per second to work with GPS. It’s okay if you’re not streaming or gaming, but these low-cost providers struggle in your area.

In the US there are no major issues, most networks have been shut down to create space for 5G.

They might establish a fresh mobile communication standard, such as 3G or potentially 4G in the coming years.

This isn't the way GPS functions.

GPS operates independently of cellular networks. Are you attempting to rely on your phone's cellular connection for accurate positioning?

You don't require cell tower information for GPS to operate

They seem to suggest streaming the maps, which would be quite poor performance even on EDGE.

I understand you want to save the map during slower internet speeds, not use dial-up.

This setup is designed to work in areas with strong cellular coverage. Expect slower speeds if you're not in a well-served zone. A specialized GPS device would be ideal for reliable navigation. I rely on mine during trips to New Hampshire and Vermont, especially when directions get confusing.

As mentioned earlier, 2G is significantly quicker than dial-up. It doesn’t keep getting faster—this isn’t a restriction set by the network, but rather the limit of current technology. Your issue isn’t about needing 2G to be faster; it’s that your internet service provider hasn’t offered 3+G coverage.
