This refers to a question whose nature varies depending on the context or game involved.

What about both. Graphics do not matter at all to a game in my opinion. I still love the feel of playing On A Rail in Half Life. Hell, I still love a game of Mario 3 on my phone's emulator. This is another kind of post that will just start a pointless argument between people that love 2d games, and the people that are obsessed with AAA graphics on newer games.

All video games are two-dimensional. 3D experiences rely on an illusion projected onto a flat screen to simulate depth.

It varies based on how you see it. In a "3D" game, most items have length, depth, and height, which creates the illusion of three dimensions. The effect is shown on your screen through perspective, not within the game itself. The exact experience can differ depending on your perspective.
