Currently using a 6600k at 4.4ghz isn't performing well for my multitasking needs. Thinking about upgrading to a 2700x for the 2070super. I was aiming for a third generation model, but prices remain steep and the 4000 series will come out soon. This decision brings me back to the platform, and it’s $159—way too much. The main concern is whether gaming performance will drop. It’s hard to find comparisons between a 2700x and a 6600k. I’m also using a 1440p 144hz monitor, playing Rainbow 6, Overwatch, ARK, and Morhau.
The higher your frame rate, the faster it declines. This is why third-generation offers remain attractive despite fewer cores.
