Hey there! Your Ryzen 7 2700X at 4.2 GHz is a solid setup, especially with your current components. For streaming, a 3900X would definitely boost performance, but whether it’s worth it depends on your needs. If you’re mainly doing light to moderate streaming and don’t plan heavy multitasking, the upgrade might not be necessary right now. Just keep in mind that RAM speed isn’t the main bottleneck here—your current system already has decent memory speeds. Focus on what matters most for your streaming goals!
The third generation Ryzen offers better single-core and gaming performance. Even without using the Zen 2 CPUs, they outperform your current Zen+ models. The choice between R9 or R7 hinges on your streaming method—h264 encoder or NVENC.
The 3900X works well for streaming, and your 2700X also manages it quite effectively, so you shouldn't have any issues.
It doesn't make sense. I'd wait for the Ryzen 4th generation or whatever Intel releases next. I'd stick with NVENC since it matches or exceeds x264 quality while using significantly less processing power.
Are you saying he should switch platforms from AMD to Intel? That would mean moving to a much newer CPU like the 14nm+++ line. Since he already has a solid X570 in the Aorus Master, he’d be better off upgrading to something like the 3700X or even later, or holding out for Ryzen 4 models...Intel shouldn’t be the main factor here.
You haven't experienced what Intel will release following "14nm +++++++". What might happen in the coming year or two remains uncertain. Intel's current lead doesn't guarantee it will last.
