Based on my experience, low and mid-range RAM often doesn’t perform well. The potential gains are minimal and unlikely to be worth the effort unless you're very lucky. You need to understand what you're doing—just changing values without proper knowledge isn’t effective. RAM configuration isn’t simple, so it’s best to learn before attempting.

My view: Retain the 7400, Z270, and RAM together for reuse in another setup. Invest profits into acquiring more fast RAM. OR combine them into a functional combo kit, then purchase additional fast RAM. Either approach means extracting RAM from the old system results in a mix of worthless components and sluggish performance.
i was planning to take out two of the four 8GB (totaling 32GB) cards from the z270. i wanted to keep the z270 with just 16GB for my child, similar to how lockdown in the uk transferred control of the rig. i’m thinking about assembling a new system using the two removed cards, pairing them with a gigabyte b450 board and a ryzen 3600x processor. i’m budgeting expenses for memory, processors, case, power supply, and graphics, hoping to save money initially before upgrading later. eventually, i plan to reinstall the removed cards back into the z270.
